You are confusing the real definition of modesty with a type of shallow display that is the result of ones need for positive attention. The later definition applies only to those who fear what it is to truely be modest, to desire no external reward or acknowledgement for the positive actions one takes. True modesty is an introspective reasoning that becomes meaningless without a purpose. Only with reason can one be sure of ones actions and there for be modest about them. The conclusison here is that modesty is not a "pretentious trait." It is a level of understanding that, due to our society's emphasis on individualistic achivement and sucess, many struggle to accept. Thats what I think anyway. Why we are so easy to manipulate? Of the over One Billion, how many are politicians? Isnt it Ironic that, a small number of people can manipulate a Majority to being any way they want us to be? So whats lacking amongst the population - education? critical thinking? unity? same goals? Ethics? These are questions that I ask. After all one hand cant clap. If the politicians are the way they are, its because the citizens let them be that way. In a way, its a marriage made in Heaven(or hell). Ever wonder, what we,the citizens are doing? And for Mumbai as a city. Our spirit is taken for granted time and again. Mumbai's state today is akin to that of a prodigy with undeducated, immature parents. We as the people of this city are far more capable, far more intelligent than the handful of good-for-nothing gasbags governing us. It is simply beyond them to even begin to recognise our potential. They are wasting our collective talents and abusing our spirit. What does a child prodigy do when it knows it has fools for parents who are not worth depending on for survival? It looks after itself. I am fully with you for asking the media channels to not glamourise the terrorism, they should instead highlight this spirit. It is important now that each of us now becomes an important part of the security machinery, we have to do it ourselves.
